What happens when I take out a marker and I end up losing all of the money or all the chips associated with that marker?

What do I do next? Well in every marker agreement between a player and a casino there is a “do and owing date” meaning when the player is going to have to pay that marker back.  It’s usually a 30-day waiting period in other words from the day the markers taken out the casino will expect payment 30 days from that day.  In a good situation for the player where the player takes out let’s say $100,000 marker goes out on the floor  to whatever tables they enjoy and then comes out on top and let’s say makes $50,000 the player can go back and pay back the marker of $100,000 and walk home with $50,000… that’s a good story.

Now what happens when that marker money is lost? Well there is that 30-day period and one of the most important things to do is if the player has the money in the bank and can pay the casino back great there’s no issue but if the player doesn’t have the money in the bank and can’t pay the casino back and knows that in 30 days they won’t be able to pay the casino back then as early as possible it’s important to call a lawyer that specializes in casino marker cases.

We can get involved with the casino before anything gets out of hand a lot of times what we can do is alleviate this potentially bad situation. We can get an extension, we can get another 30 days or even request more time even more than 60 days let’s say… so that the player can get enough funds to pay back the marker and at least try to keep it in-house with the casino collecton departmen.  If it’s a Las Vegas marker we can try to keep it from going to the DA’s office and prevent it from becoming a criminal matter.

There’s a lot of help out there if you know you can’t pay back your marker in 30 days? if that’s your situation please call us we are a law firm that spcialized in resolving casino marker cases… we can help!
